Wardrobe Solutions: Biker Shorts

One of the best purchases you can make when you wear a ton of dresses is the biker short.

Now, I’m not necessarily saying you have to go buy shape wear.  Shape wear is great, don’t get me wrong.  It is great to help certain silouettes give a nice clean line, but for everyday, they are pretty restricting.

A nice light biker short can prevent chafing, also help with a clean line with clingy fabrics and keep you cool.

Other products also prevent chafing, but don’t also have the added benefit of helping your clothes fall better and provide a little extra modesty protection on those windy days and when wearing a mini skirt.

My favorite biker short is the slip short by Jockey.  I wear an XL or a 2XL, and I’m a size 18/20 for reference.  They have a variety of colors as well.

Another great find, are these biker shorts with a pocket that I found on Amazon.

Fashion Alert: Adaptive Clothing Update as of April 2018

*This article was updated April 2018.  Please see the latest news on this fantastic fashion brand and their new team-up!

Recently I read an article about this great fashion brand, Runway of Dreams, and I had to share this story with you.

Mindy Scheier is a mother of three children and a fashion designer.  One of her sons has special needs wherein he has to wear braces on his legs to assist with his mobility.  One day before school, her son asked if he could wear jeans to school just like his friends.  “Of course!”, would be the answer, right?  Well, the braces present a unique challenge.  If he wears the jeans, then he won’t be able to go to the restroom unassisted.  If he doesn’t wear jeans, then he feels left out, like any kid would.  What is a mom to do?  Well, she created Runway of Dreams.

Runway of Dreams is a line of adaptive clothing to keep kids and adults that are differently-abled, fashionable.  Magnetic “buttons” hidden behind buttons allow people that would normally not be able to button a shirt unassisted, to button their own shirt. Openings in the back of a shirt or dress instead of having the garment be a pull-over.  It is little details such as these that change the fashion landscape and make it accessable to all.  What an amazing idea and what an amazing lady!

Please go to their website and watch the short documentary here and be inspired like I was.  You can also find stores to shop for these great pieces should you need them or know someone that would benefit from them.

Update: Tommy Hilfiger has now introduced a complete new line of adaptive clothing for all ages!

Fashion Alert: Tee Turtle

I have a new obsession, Tee Turtle.

I already knew about Tee Turtle, but I discovered recently that they have plus size ladies t-shirts!  Not only that, but they have sales on their tees for $12!  All good stuff.  Take a look at their shirts here.

Here are three recent acquisitions from Tee Turtle that I got for twelve bucks a piece.  I’m wearing a women’s relaxed fit in 2XL.  I am a size 18/20 for reference.

First up is Star Lord:

Last up is my Marvel shirt:

I styled my shirt with a plaid skirt from Torrid and a bandana from Dollar Tree.

I love the variety of t-shirts that they offer.  I obviously went straight for the Marvel selections, but check out their Halloween t-shirts, which are amazing!

Happy shopping!

Fashion Alert: New Elhoffer Design Pre-Order Items

Elhoffer Design has some great new items up for pre-sale.  With Elhoffer Design, the overall amount of sizes ordered depends on the interest in the pre-sale, so if you want any of these items, then pounce!

Potter Inspired and Anglophile Items

First up are the Loony and Serpent Slayer cardis:

Both cardis are a vintage-style silhouette, which are universally flattering.  Elhoffer Design also carries all of their items size inclusive, up to 3XL.  The sizes are women’s and not junior’s sizing as well, so a 3XL is a true 3XL.  I should know, that is the size I wear in her clothes.  I wear a size 18/20 for reference.

Elhoffer also has a dolman sweater inspired by Fantastic Beasts and a very cute Union Jack cardi.

Star Wars Inspired Items

Next up are some Star Wars inspired items:

The Scavenger Vest has attached arm warmers and is super-soft.  The General cape comes in two colors, brown and grey, and is one size fits all.  Both items are great for casual cosplay or bounding.

All items are available at special pre-order prices now at elhofferdesign.com.  Make sure you order them now before the prices go up and to make sure you get the size you want.

Until next time…

SDCC Recap: John Barrowman’s Tardis Dress

For our first recap, we are taking a look at John Barrowman’s Tardis cosplay dress designed by Elhoffer Design.

Screen-Shot-2017-07-24-at-11.01.03-AM

John’s dress is super cute and was a huge hit at SDCC.

Because response was so overwhelmingly postitive, Elhoffer Design has made a dress available for pre-orders.

The dress is, as with all Elhoffer Designs, super stretchy and comfortable and flattering to all body types.  The dress is size-inclusive in women’s sizes up to 3XL.

If you would like a dress of your own, then jump on it and order it here.

Pre-orders determine how many of each size will be ordered, so if you want to make sure you get one, you have to pre-order it.  Also, the pre-order price is discounted a bit.

Until next time…
